David was born in Ithaca, New York.  While attending Ithaca High School David began developing his natural artistic abilities.  His work won praise from students and teachers alike and won an award for a collage while in his senior year.  

Upon graduation from high school David was drafted into the U.S. army and spent a 2-year tour of duty in Vietnam.  When he returned to Ithaca where he worked at Cornell University Arboretum landscaping and sculpting plants.  He then managed a store which offered an assortment of collectibles, art and craft supplies.


Interested in landscape architecture David moved to Bryan/College Station to attend Texas A&M University.  He supported himself while attending school by working in the construction industry.  He began designing and building restaurants and homes in Bryan/College Station and built up a successful design & build construction company.   While in Bryan/College Station he concentrated his activities in both the construction industry and the art scene.  Several pieces of his art were included in his clients’ projects and in local art shows. David was recognized in the community as both a creative designer-builder and an artist.


In search of new horizons David left Texas for California with his wife and two children in 1987.  Upon his arrival David started his own general contracting business.  From 1987 until January 2009 the business grew tremendously and achieved a sound reputation as a leader in the biotech construction industry.


Although developing and running a construction company kept him busy, David continued to develop his artistic talents.  In 2000 David’s sculpture “The Hug,” developed for the Escondido Community Health Center, was accepted by the City of Escondido Art in Public Places Program, and placed at the outside entrance to the center.


In 2009 David sold his construction company and retired to concentrate on his art.  The year before David and his wife bought a ranch in Ramona, California, and turned one of the 2 barns into a 10,000 SF art studio while the other barn is now one of two galleries on the ranch.  His art can be seen at his Ramona Ranch Gallery by appointment (619-985-9584) or at  2Create Gallery in Ramona, CA.
